Yields one large serving bowl

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

• Orville Redenbacher’s white popping corn - no substitutions

• Extra-virgin olive oil

• 1⁄2 stick butter

• Salt

Tools:

• Large saucepan with lid

• Large serving bowl

• Hot pad

Directions:

  1. Melt butter - 25 seconds in a microwave and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  2. Set the butter mixture and salt to the side

  3. Cover the bottom of the saucepan with a layer of popping corn

  4. Add enough olive oil to fully cover the popping corn

  5. Put the lid on the pan and place on a burner set to high

  6. Once popping corn lifts pan lid, remove from heat with hot pad and

• Pour 1⁄2 of the pan’s contents into the large bowl

• Pour 1⁄3 o f butter mixture over popped corn and salt with a heavy hand

  1. Return pan to the heat

  2. Repeat steps 5-7 until the popping corn stops popping (usually 3 times)

Note:

• When in Maine, recipe is doubled and a VERY large serving bowl is used
