Serves 8

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Grilling time: 3 hours

Ingredients:

• 1 whole chicken - 4 pounds

• 1 cup butter

• 2 tablespoons garlic salt

• 2 tablespoons paprika

• Salt and pepper to taste

• 1 can beer

Tools:

• Outdoor grill

• Disposable baking sheet

Directions:

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill to low heat

  2. In a small skillet, melt 1⁄2 cup of butter and add: 1 tablespoon each of garlic salt and paprika and salt and pepper

  3. In the beer can:

• Drink 1⁄2 the beer

• Add remaining garlic salt, paprika, salt and pepper to the remaining beer

  1. Place beer can on a disposable baking sheet

  2. Place the chicken onto the can - chicken should cook vertically

  3. Baste chicken with butter mixture

  4. Place the baking sheet, beer can and chicken on the prepared grill and close the cover

  5. Grill for 3 hours - internal temperature of the chicken should reach 170 degrees Fahrenheit (test to see if leg moves freely)
